Alicia Dara has helped thousands of people including CEO’s, Global VPs, Executive Directors and Presidential candidates break through blocks, find their Power Voice, and put it to work. Her most popular group training is Power Voice for Career Women, which helps women strengthen their voices, clarify their messaging, and push back against workplace sexism. Corporate clients include Microsoft (where she is a vendor), Amazon, Kimpton Hotels, Planned Parenthood, The Riveter, and Carhartt. Private clients include the National Women's Political Caucus, the Female Founders Alliance, and members of Amazon, Facebook, Merrill Lynch, Seattle Trade Commission, Windermere, and Twitter. She is the Founder and Editor in Chief of Womancake Magazine.
Alicia was born into a family of Grammy-award winning symphony musicians. She studied musical theater in New York City and is an AMDA grad. As a musician she has released 5 original solo records and 4 with her current band Diamondwolf. Her writings about strengthening women’s voices have been published in Oldster Magazine, Thrive Global, Lioness Magazine, The Select 7, Medium, CoveyClub, and The Write Life. She also talks gives regular tips and tricks to her monthly email list (sign up in the box on the home page). Alicia has served on the Board of Advocates of Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest and Hawaiian Islands, and has spoken extensively about being a feminist activist since the age of 15.
Activism
A life-long pro-choice activist, Alicia has served on the Board of Advocates of Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest and Hawaiian Islands. She has also volunteered as a PP citizen lobbyist, speaking directly to lawmakers about issues related to public health and family planning funding.
As a Board of Advocates member, Alicia assembled a CD compilation of 18 Northwest bands and artists (including Star Anna, RA Scion, We Are Golden, Ian Moore, Choklate, and The Volcano Diary) to benefit PPGNW’s Someone You Know Fund. 100% of the proceeds went to the cause. The project was endorsed by Cecile Richards, president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

In April 2013 The Seattle Times blog published Alicia’s Letter to the Editor about the expansion of Medicaid and the effect it will have on musicians and artists in Seattle.
In April of 2011 Alicia was chosen to deliver a speech at the Planned Parenthood Votes Northwest luncheon. The keynote speaker was Anita Hill. Alicia spoke about her experiences as a volunteer and patient of Planned Parenthood, and introduced Governor Jay Inslee.
Also in 2011 Alicia was recognized for her Planned Parenthood activism in the December issue of Self magazine.
Alicia has also served on the board of the Rain City Rock Camp for Girls, and as part of RCRC’s strategic planning committee.
Music
Alicia is currently fronting the award-winning acoustic duo Diamondwolf (2019 EP "Coming Closer" available HERE and on Itunes HERE). Her previous band is The Volcano Diary (CD available HERE, produced by Steve Fisk). Both bands have appeared locally in venues including the Crocodile, Neumos, The Tractor Tavern, The Sunset, and in music festivals including Folklife. Alicia has also released five solo albums and contributed to film and TV soundtracks.
Born in Vancouver, Canada to a family of Grammy Award winning symphony musicians, Alicia trained as a vocalist from an early age. She is a graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City, where she studied musical theater. Alicia moved to Seattle in the mid-90’s and has remained a fixture on the local scene. Since beginning her singing career at age 7, Alicia has appeared as a session vocalist on over 50 recordings, both artistic and commercial. Her original songs have been used in film and TV soundtracks since the mid-oughts, and she has collaborated on songs for film scores by local filmmakers. Alicia’s acclaimed solo release is The Secret Dream of Tigers on Chroma Records. She has toured nationally and appeared at the Knitting Factory in New York, the Limelight in Nashville, and at The Mint and Genghis Cohen in LA.
As a singing and songwriting teacher in Seattle, Alicia has worked for the Experience Music Project, Coyote Central, UCDS, Salmon Bay Elementary, and has taught members of The Presidents of the United States of America, Tacocat, La Fille, Tobias the Owl, Visqueen, Maktub and many solo artists.
